Development is at the core of Prograin’s business. Our Research Center focuses on developing soybeans with nutritive qualities. We develop varieties for traditional Asian soy foods and to meet the increasing need of the North American market for soy-based products. Among those:
- soybeans used specifically in oriental products (tofu, natto and others);
- specialized soybeans for generic applications (soy milk, yogurt and others);
- cultivars with a higher protein and sugar content
Our private laboratory is unique in North America. We evaluate our newly developed soybean varieties for there quality in making of tofus, soy milks, miso and natto:
- On an experimental basis, we make tofu, soy milk, miso and natto.
- our standards were established in collaboration with our customers and meet or surpass their requirements.
- Our testing protocol allows Prograin to clearly identify the characteristics of all the soybean varieties currently available for sale for Asia and North America.
- Prograin’s working relationship with South America allows us to benefit from the use of winter nurseries and as a result, we can bring new varieties to market much faster (5 to 6 years rather than 10).
